I am so thrilled to be able to combine my 12 years of creative design experience with the wonderful resources and products that Paul Schatz Furniture has to offer! My greatest joy in interior design is helping my clients create a space that reflects their personality, interests and style. Having a grown family of my own, I am intimately familiar with the changing needs of busy families as well as empty nesters. Decorating your home is a process, and we begin that process by having an initial conversation that helps me to get to know you better. We’ll talk about how you and your family use the space, what items you want to keep and your overall goals for the project. Armed with that information, I will create a floor plan for you and make suggestions for furnishings and accessories that will nurture and inspire you. From the initial concept to the final installation, my commitment to you is to make your decorating journey fun and enjoyable and result in a space that you love to come home to.
Jo Ann Rouza
Being a designer in the furniture industry for the past 28 years (and being with Paul Schatz Furniture for 14 years) has allowed me to develop my passion for design to the utmost. I love working with people and, most of all, listening carefully to what my clients tell me and helping them turn their ideas into everyday realities. Patience is my strongest attribute; and that, coupled with my capacity to listen well, enables me to hear my clients’ needs, develop long-lasting relationships, and provide them with personalized guidance for design solutions and space planning. I believe every home should be a reflection of the individual who inhabits it, so I work closely with each client to make sure their space balances pattern, color and texture in such a way that matches their tastes. What’s more, I’ll help my clients enhance and further individualize their space to make it truly their own. I believe wholeheartedly that home is where the heart is, which is why interior design is such a rewarding career for me. In the end, I get the pure joy of helping people create homes that they can’t wait to come home to.
A Certified Interior Designer from Minnesota, I came to Paul Schatz Furniture in 2012 after owning my own design firm for 24 years. I have a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from the University of Minnesota, and have extensive experience in both Residential and Commercial design.
Raised in the Midwest, I have been a longtime admirer of the Arts and Crafts Movement and its influence in the history of furniture. Being a designer at Paul Schatz Furniture gives me the opportunity to have North America’s finest gallery of Stickley furniture at my fingertips. Whether it’s a rustic summer cabin, simple bungalow or substantial executive home, I would welcome the opportunity to lend my product knowledge and design expertise to your craftsman dream project.
Whether you prefer craftsman, classic or contemporary style, I will sit down with you at your home or in our design center, listen to your ideas and goals, and work with you to make your project an individual reflection of you. From custom wall and window treatments to area rugs, accessories, and tailor-made upholstery, I pride myself on including the creative details that make every project I do uniquely yours.

I specialize in furniture selection and placement, as well as fabric selection. What’s more, I can help you pick the right flooring options, color consultant, art, draperies and window treatments for your home. I look forward to assisting you in whatever way I can, whether that means helping you pick out one piece or standing by your side with recommendations as you furnish your entire household.
Thank you! I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish together.
Raised in Alaska in a home that included an architect and an interior designer, I developed a passion for design at an early age. Graduating from the University of Washington Art School I began my 20 year career in interior design.

The joy of my job is to help fashion a beautiful space that my clients will always be happy to come home to.

“My favorite part of what I do as a Designer is to experience the joy I bring to my clients by turning their house into the home of their dreams.”
My 30 years of design experience began with a degree from Oregon State focused on Graphic Design which later evolved into the field of Interior Design. I have a strong creative sense for balancing color, texture and style which I have used for both commercial and residential projects over the years.
The process of getting to know you is important to me. Listening to you allows us to work together to develop a design plan around your needs, personal style, and budget. Creating a well-designed space that expresses my clients’ personal style is always my goal. My design philosophy is to intertwine my clients’ most prized possessions with a design that expresses their individuality. I enjoy listening to my clients’ needs and lifestyle, then designing a space that exceeds their expectations. Utilizing classic design principles, I am able to guide my clients in appropriate scale, space planning, furniture selection and accessory placement to make their space their home.
After graduating from Portland State University’s School of Business and many years of retail management, I craved creativity. I focused my passion for furniture, fabrics and people into studying interior design. I continue to update my design skills and stay on top of the latest trends through Portland Community College and shelter magazines. I have made Paul Schatz Furniture my home for over seven years. I truly enjoy working with the wide variety of products we offer especially Stickley Furniture, along with the local family-owned atmosphere.
A Graduate of Heritage School of Interior Design in 1997, Teri has a love of helping clients make their house a home. She takes great pride in having her clients’ homes represent their personalities and lifestyles.
In her twelve years as a Designer, Teri has worked on projects from conception through their final touches. Having worked on homes in the “Street of Dreams” and hundreds of residential homes through out Oregon, she takes great pride in the fact her projects have all been different. The unique work of each plan makes the design process always new and exciting to work on.
“Designing a room is like building a house, you need to start with a plan and a vision, and then lay the foundation one piece at a time. Until it is no longer the pieces you see but the whole picture, and everyone’s picture is different.”
Being the honorary mascot of Paul Schatz Furniture takes more work than you’d suspect. I am a King Charles Cavalier, and despite the fact that I have very little design experience under my belt, I remain a highly sought-after part of the design center here at Paul Schatz. My specialty lies in entertaining customers, but I’m also quite skilled at napping. While I love working at Paul Schatz Furniture for many reasons, my favorite part of the day is lunchtime when I play the game of ‘how many treats can I get’ with everyone in the lunchroom.
My design philosophy is that home is your respite from the world, and should be reflective of your personality, preferences and passions. I think of the home as the envelope that embraces the things you have collected throughout your life’s journey, along with the presence of your loved ones (be it yourself, family and/or furry friends). It is my passion to create the spaces that highlight your possessions while supporting your lifestyle.
As a designer, I have myriad resources at my fingertips and will interact with you as we create together. As an Allied Member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), I am committed to growing my knowledge and staying current with the trends in the industry.
I firmly agree with Gustav Stickley, who wrote, “The word that is best loved in the language of every nation is home, for when a man’s home is born out of his heart and developed through his labor and perfected through his sense of beauty, it is the very cornerstone of his life.” I would be honored to assist you in the development of your home.
