I am so thrilled to be able to combine my 12 years of creative design experience with the wonderful resources and products that Paul Schatz Furniture has to offer! My greatest joy in interior design is helping my clients create a space that reflects their personality, interests and style. Having a grown family of my own, I am intimately familiar with the changing needs of busy families as well as empty nesters. Decorating your home is a process, and we begin that process by having an initial conversation that helps me to get to know you better. We’ll talk about how you and your family use the space, what items you want to keep and your overall goals for the project. Armed with that information, I will create a floor plan for you and make suggestions for furnishings and accessories that will nurture and inspire you. From the initial concept to the final installation, my commitment to you is to make your decorating journey fun and enjoyable and result in a space that you love to come home to.
Jo Ann Rouza
My design philosophy is that home is your respite from the world, and should be reflective of your personality, preferences and passions. I think of the home as the envelope that embraces the things you have collected throughout your life’s journey along with the presence of your loved ones; be it yourself, family and/or furry friends. It is my passion to create the spaces that highlight not only your possessions but support your lifestyles as well. As a designer, I have myriad resources at my fingertips and will interact with you as we create together. As an Allied Member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) I am committed to growing my knowledge and staying current with the trends in the industry. I firmly agree with Gustav Stickley when he wrote, “The word that is best loved in the language of every nation is home, for when a man’s home is born out of his heart and developed through his labor and perfected through his sense of beauty, it is the very cornerstone of his life.” I would be honored to assist you in the development of your home.
My 30 years of design experience began with a degree from Oregon State focused on Graphic Design which later evolved into the field of Interior Design. I have a strong creative sense for balancing color, texture and style which I have used for both commercial and residential projects over the years.
The process of getting to know you is important to me. Listening to you allows us to work together to develop a design plan around your needs, personal style, and budget. I also enjoy the challenge of helping couples with different styles, whether it be craftsman, traditional, contemporary or transitional, come together to create a space that’s beautiful and comfortable for both of them.
Come into our store or call for a complimentary in home consultation. It would be my pleasure to meet you and talk about the direction you would like to take to make your space a reflection your own individual style.
My name is Sue Amos, and I am the head of the Trade Services division at Paul Schatz Furniture. I have worked for Paul Schatz Furniture since September of 1997 and have more than 30 years of experience in the furniture industry. I began at Paul Schatz by serving as the store's Merchandise Manager and buyer, which gave me unmatched insight into what goes into selecting and understanding the design elements that will grace your home. I have had the pleasure of helping to furnish several Street of Dreams homes, and have published in Portrait of Portland twice. In addition, I am currently a board representative for the local Chapter of Northwest Society of Interior Designers, and am regularly invited by major furniture manufacturers to participate in design panels that review and critique new product designs prior to offering them to the general public.
My many years of experience, coupled with my comprehensive understanding for design, style, proportion and product desirability in the Northwest, have made me highly sought after for advice within the industry. When I furnish a home, my hope is that you will have the experience of feeling as if it is wrapping its arms around you, enveloping you in one big hug, the moment you walk in.

“My favorite part of what I do as a Designer is to experience the joy I bring to my clients by turning their house into the home of their dreams.”
Creating a well-designed space that expresses my clients’ personal style is always my goal. My design philosophy is to intertwine my clients’ most prized possessions with a design that expresses their individuality. I enjoy listening to my clients’ needs and lifestyle, then designing a space that exceeds their expectations. Utilizing classic design principles, I am able to guide my clients in appropriate scale, space planning, furniture selection and accessory placement to make their space their home.
After graduating from Portland State University’s School of Business and many years of retail management, I craved creativity. I focused my passion for furniture, fabrics and people into studying interior design. I continue to update my design skills and stay on top of the latest trends through Portland Community College and shelter magazines. I have made Paul Schatz Furniture my home for over seven years. I truly enjoy working with the wide variety of products we offer especially Stickley Furniture, along with the local family-owned atmosphere.
A Graduate of Heritage School of Interior Design in 1997, Teri has a love of helping clients make their house a home. She takes great pride in having her clients’ homes represent their personalities and lifestyles.
In her twelve years as a Designer, Teri has worked on projects from conception through their final touches. Having worked on homes in the “Street of Dreams” and hundreds of residential homes through out Oregon, she takes great pride in the fact her projects have all been different. The unique work of each plan makes the design process always new and exciting to work on.
“Designing a room is like building a house, you need to start with a plan and a vision, and then lay the foundation one piece at a time. Until it is no longer the pieces you see but the whole picture, and everyone’s picture is different.”
Being a designer in the furniture industry for the past 28 years (and being with Paul Schatz Furniture for 14 years) has allowed me to develop my passion for design to the utmost. I love working with people and, most of all, listening carefully to what my clients tell me and helping them turn their ideas into everyday realities. Patience is my strongest attribute; and that, coupled with my capacity to listen well, enables me to hear my clients’ needs, develop long-lasting relationships, and provide them with personalized guidance for design solutions and space planning. I believe every home should be a reflection of the individual who inhabits it, so I work closely with each client to make sure their space balances pattern, color and texture in such a way that matches their tastes. What’s more, I’ll help my clients enhance and further individualize their space to make it truly their own. I believe wholeheartedly that home is where the heart is, which is why interior design is such a rewarding career for me. In the end, I get the pure joy of helping people create homes that they can’t wait to come home to.
Raised in Alaska in a home that included an architect and an interior designer, I developed a passion for design at an early age. Graduating from the University of Washington Art School I began my 20 year career in interior design.
I enjoy working on all projects from space planning to selecting the perfect accessory to complete the room. My artistic background allows me to communicate a plan for any space in a creative way. The joy of my job is to help fashion a beautiful space that my clients will always be happy to come home to.
Being the honorary mascot of Paul Schatz Furniture takes more work than you’d suspect. I am a King Charles Cavalier, and despite the fact that I have very little design experience under my belt, I remain a highly sought-after part of the design center here at Paul Schatz. My specialty lies in entertaining customers, but I’m also quite skilled at napping. While I love working at Paul Schatz Furniture for many reasons, my favorite part of the day is lunchtime when I play the game of ‘how many treats can I get’ with everyone in the lunchroom.
As an Allied Member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) with over 30 years of experience in home design from all over the United States and Canada, I have spent my career creating homes with charm and personality. I pride myself on being an exceptional listener, which allows me to really hear what my clients both want and need.
I would love to meet you and begin working on developing a personal design plan with you that includes not just the new and exciting elements, but also those special and very personal pieces that you love and want to keep forever.
I specialize in furniture selection and placement, as well as fabric selection. What’s more, I can help you pick the right flooring options, color consultant, art, draperies and window treatments for your home. I look forward to assisting you in whatever way I can, whether that means helping you pick out one piece or standing by your side with recommendations as you furnish your entire household.
Thank you! I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish together.
